The play is penned in Punjabi by a renowned playwright, Dr. Pali Bhupinder Singh and is adapted in Hindi by a local theater enthusiast and veteran director-actor, Dalvinder Multani.
The play delves into terrorism and the associated violence in India. Although set in India, the author’s narration of the events transcends geographical and social boundaries. Terrorism is a recent coinage and it has been said that one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter. On one hand, the systematic use of violence to achieve some political or social goals is viewed as inherently immoral. On the other hand, the authority that uses illegal and excessive means to suppress “terrorism” is equally culpable in propagating this violence. It is these dilemmas and inherent contradictions that the author highlights in this poignant contemporary play.
The play explores these issues through a triangular relationship shared by a senior police officer, his wife and a terrorist. It delves into the deep layers of human mind and asks who is a terrorist?
