Synopsis
The play is an adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s Kabuliwala.  It explores the universality of parenthood through the relationship between a second generation Indian American girl, her father, and an Afghan immigrant.

Mini is a second generation Indian American girl living on Main Street, USA.  She and her stay-at-home writer dad meet Rehmat, an Afghan immigrant.  Mini reminds Rehmat of her own daughter back home in Afghanistan and over time they develop a deep friendship.  Their uneventful happy lives get rudely interrupted when Rehmat gets arrested on suspicion of terrorism in the aftermath of 9/11.  He is shipped to an undisclosed location and all efforts by Mini’s dad to locate him fails.  The incident leaves a deep mark on Mini.  Time passes by and after graduating from high school, Mini decides to enlist. Before leaving for her first tour of duty in Afghanistan, she promises to “set everything right.”  As the play unfolds we learn of Mini’s effort to set everything right and the tremendous price she pays for it.
